How important is my eMarketing report?

27th May 2011

Well, we think it's very important – eMarketing reports will provide a lot of valuable information to allow you to communicate more & more effectively with your audience.

One of the great things about email marketing is that it is highly measurable and very transparent.

eMarketing allows you to monitor, in real time, how many people opened your message and if they clicked on your links. This means you can evaluate how well each of your campaigns does & see which customers are interested in which products.

If you check your report regularly, you will be able to identify what goes down well and what doesn't. You can spot trends, track good days to send out your reports, see most successful sort of information to share and the best part of the newsletter to position the information.

Understanding the data from your eMarketing report enables you to improve your upcoming campaigns, identify trends and give your customers the information that they really want.

eMarketing programs allow you to track the clicks and the open rates for your newsletter. Click tracking refers to how many people clicked on your link, if you include a link on your newsletter pointing to your webpage. Open tracking “counts” how many people opened your message. Your eMarketing report contains information on the click and open rates, and more detailed ones such as:

  • how many emails have been delivered successfully, without being blocked
  • how many times your customers have forwarded your e-mail to friends
  • how many people opened your campaign – this is different to how many times your campaign was opened, as the same person can  open your campaign a series of time
  • how many people unsubscribed from your campaign

If you integrate your eMarketing with Social media, you can also track your campaign performance on social media – how many “likes” your campaign gets on Facebook, for example.

You can see a lot of detail in the reports – right down to the persons name who opened & clicked on your links. You can then be more sophisticated with your data, creating groups of people based on their interests and sending highly targeted campaigns.

This analysis will enable you to continuously improve your eMarketing strategy and ultimately reach the goals that you set up for your campaign.
